Since 1998, I have been working in an outpatient, private-practice setting in Hermosa Beach.
I received my license in 2001. I specialize in Adolescent, Adult, and Couples counseling.
I have over 30 years of clinical experience working with adolescents in residential facilities, group homes, homeless shelters, and outpatient settings. I have worked within the roles of Youth Development Counselor, Group Home Manager, Facility Director, Individual and Group Therapist. During this time I also hired, trained, and supervised staff members.
This extensive experience allowed me to develop effective ways of distinguishing between typical and atypical adolescent behaviors and issues.
Additionally, it allowed me the opportunity to counsel hundreds of teens and create effective individual and group psychotherapy models. These experiences also enabled me to develop effective strategies for parents trying to stop disruptive, oppositional, or other negative patterns that they experience with their teens or in the family.
As a doctoral student, I interned at three distinguished institutions where I had the opportunity to work with a variety of populations, such as children, teens, and adults; and in a variety of roles, such as individual, couple, family, and group psychotherapist.
Monrovia Community Mental Health Clinic – Worked as an individual, couples, and family therapist. Co-facilitated a Domestic Violence group, parenting classes, and a Women’s Cognitive/Behavioral group for the treatment of depression.
Children’s Hospital, Division of Adolescent Medicine – Worked as an individual and group therapist for at-risk and runaway teens.
Los Angeles Police Department, Division of Behavioral Sciences – Worked as a therapist for members of the Los Angeles Police Department and their families. Participated in training on Risk Management and Interventions.
Since licensure, I have had the fortune of being a guest speaker on topics such as ADHD, adolescent behavior, and parenting strategies. Furthermore, I have had the opportunity to take post-licensure courses demonstrating effective techniques for the treatment of substance abuse, depression, anxiety, PTSD, crisis management, couples’ issues, and many more.
For over fifteen years, I have also had the opportunity to work as a supervisor to therapists gaining critical experience on the way to licensure. I have been fortunate to have such talented, hard-working, and genuinely empathic individuals working with me. To find out more about them, please see my Interns page.
